Hassina Khan

Hassina Khan is a glass artist based in Suffolk whose work inhabits the space where craft meets art.

She specialises in kiln-formed glass, using both fusing and slumping techniques to create vessels and objects that enrich homes and spaces whilst inviting the viewer to think about the world differently. Her works are often embedded with, or formed by, carefully crafted fragments of text that she writes using transliteration: English words in Urdu characters. This hybrid of languages mimics her bi-racial, English-Pakistani, background.

Hassina studied at the University of Sunderland based in the National Glass Centre, where she was awarded a Mike Davies Innovation Scholarship. She achieved an MA (Distinction) in Glass & Ceramics and her final piece ‘Hybridity. Do not ask’ was acquired for the permanent collection at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens.

She is a select member of both the Crafts Council Directory and Suffolk Craft Society.
