Mike Davies Innovation Scholarship

Towards the end of the first year of my MA, I was awarded a Mike Davies Innovation Scholarship by the University. This enabled me to learn Nastaliq script, which is the language that Urdu is written in, in order to incorporate it into my work. It’s a beautiful cursive script, but very complicated as there are 35 characters, each of which has multiple forms depending on where it is in each word.

This scholarship completely transformed my practice and now much of my work incorporates text using this script. Read this article to find out more
